Challenge 26# - May Challenge 'Birthday/Party'

Good Morning Everyone! Michelle here, did you all enjoy the wedding yesterday? Wasn't Kate beautiful? and the best thing about it all, a lovely long weekend to fit in even more scrummy crafting!

First of all a big THANK YOU to everyone who took part in last months challenge, there were some gorgeous entries and WELL DONE to our prize winners and our Top Three!

It's my turn to choose the theme this month and as it's my daughters 2nd birthday in a couple of weeks I thought it'd be the perfect opportunity for a Birthday Challenge.

The Challenge
Theme: {Birthday/Party}
Dates: 30th April ~ 3rd June 2011

Each month here at Ellephantastic we have at least 4 sponsors & each month we 'Spotlight' one of our lovely sponsors & this month
Spotlight Sponsor
Digi Doodles Shop

Digi Doodle Shop is the results of a mother and daughter’s love for the arts and crafts.  It was started just a couple of months ago with a little more than 100 stamps, and has since then grown to over 250 stamps - now available.
Joy (the mother of this team) designs realistic images, while I (Judy aka/daughter) love the “fun side of life”, and create images with cartoon flair.  Having these two complimenting styles have enabled Digi Doodle Shop to offer just about any type of stamp.  Plus, we also offer “custom made stamps”, and blog designs.  Our best work comes from request, so if you don’t see what you’re looking for, just send us an email and before long you’ll see it in the shop.
It is a real honor and pleasure to sponsor this challenge, and we look forward to seeing all the amazing creations.  We thank the design team for their incredible creations, and wish all the participants the very best of luck in this challenge.
Thank you so much for having us, and again the very best of luck to all of you.
Sincerely,
Judy and Joy

Mid Month Inspiration and Tutorial ~ Corner Bookmark

Good morning all you Ellephantastic fans!  Tamara here and its my turn to host the Mid Month inspiration and Tutorial.  I decided to go with a corner bookmark for my tutorial as I find them quick and easy to make and they make a gorgeous gift for anyone...

**FOR APRIL'S CHALLENGE CLICK HERE**

Tutorial for a Corner Bookmark

Craft Supplies you will need

  • Score board and score tool (I used the Houghie board)
  • Large Scalloed edge punch (mine is 3")
  • Edge punch or border die (I used Martha Stewart doily punch)
  • Pencil
  • Paper trimmer
  • Double sided tape and glue
Step 1
Card stock and Measurements
  • Card stock cut to 4" x 4" square (if you prefer you could make the square bigger or smaller)
  • 2x Squares cut to   2 ¾” x 2 ¾”  (cut one out of card stock and the other from your chosen design paper).
  • If you make your square bigger or smaller you will need to adjust your smaller square.  To do this just measure your diagonal score mark this will give you the size of your smaller square.

Step 2
Mark three sides of your 4" square at 2 inches.

Step 3

Score your lines from mark to mark.

Step 4

The two smaller  2 ¾” squares, cut them both diagonal to end up with two triangles..

Step 5

Use your punch or die to shape the bottom edge of the base of your bookmark..

Step 6

Using one of your design paper triangles, glue to the front.

Step 7 & 9

Measure from the bottom edge of the triangle to the top edge of your shaped border. Cut a piece of card stock and decorate.  I used distressing inks to add some colour to my edges.

Step 8

Glue to the front and add ribbon.

 Step 9

Follow step 8 this is for the back of your bookmark to hide the ribbon edges.

Step 10

Use double sided tape to secure the two flaps at the back.  Then add the other card stock triangle to hide the gap.  Decorate with the remaining design paper triangle.

Step 11

Add your die cut circle and scalloped edged circle and decorate.  For this bookmark I used a digital

image from

called "New Rosaline"

Add your chosen embellies and your finished.

The Design team have come up with some gorgeous corner bookmarks
